Glassing and Shining

Unread postby wibowhntr » Sun Aug 29, 2010 12:16 pm

What time of the evening or night are you seeing the most activity of mature bucks? How do you decide what time you are going to go out glassing or shining. Is this also some what decided by moon phases? Thanks for any input.

I have not used "moon phase" as a determining factor for what time to shine or glass. But it would probably be a good idea if your intent was to find out what bucks are out there.
I glass evenings mainly. I shine periodically at different times of the night but my best scouting results are in the 1st couple hours of darkness and the last couple hours of darkness. Thats because thats when they are still relatively close to there bedding areas and I can make educated guesses as to where they are bedding based on where I see them and direction of travel.
