Really, I think I go through about a pod a month. There are thousands of seeds in each.

 I was wondering about that, but I had absolutely no idea how many of them seeds were in a pod... Oh well, now I know...

The other day I was looking for some.... I couldn't find any, I think Dreaming Bucks picked them all  . Seriously though, where the heck do I find some of these things, Marshy areas? Grass fields/CRP?

I found mine just in the ditch next to the road, I was driving real slow and all at once, they stuck right out at me, so I stopped and backed up and I could see the pods hanging from the plants... I don't know where you would look for these as far as common spots, but like I said, I found mine right in the ditchline...

They grow along ditchs quite well and driving around has always been the easiest way to find them for me. They also seem to sprout in the same spots year after year.

Just opened one yesterday and I don't think they are ready yet. Seeds are still white.

Depends on what type of milkweeds you want. Around here the swamp milkweeds have gone to seed and are floating all over my back yard. The butterfly milkweeds are also just starting to turn as well. The great big buggers are a ways off yet.

Must have overlooked that. Last year I picked a milk crate full, and yeah, walked into the lean to and they were every where. I guess I was stock piling for the next hundred years. One thing I did do was take a round metal container that pellets come in from a pellet gun and drilled a 1/2" hole in the top, stripped the seeds and the core after they were dry. In the small container, I can fit 3-4 seeds. I tried to just carry them in my pocket and I am still pulling them out of my hunting pants even after turning the pocket inside out last year.

Put it on your dash board till it drys... I usually pick the seed off to get good float.

I just picked a big bag full from a patch I've been eyeing. I got them in a dry spot in the fresh air. I don't like them picking up scent from my house or car.
