Re: Public land
Tried to hunt that spot a couple different times this year, LOTS of pressure even during bow. One day during gun season there were 10 trucks parked in that lot.

Re: Public land
Yes there is lots of pressure, but 10 cars is really not that much for that spot as it is a huge area and most are hunting field edges. Good spot as you get big boys that wander out of refuge.....

Re: Public land
I would hunt where I PUT THE BLUE DOTS WHEN THE WIND IS BLOWING DOWN THE DRAWS.

Dan can you elaborate on when the wind is blowing down the draws?
I think I understand the wind tunnel and hunting the leeward sides from hill country DVD.
How do the draws affect the buck bedding?
Thanks

Wind blowing down the draws does not effect buck bedding. However, in each spot I marked, wind blowing down the draws would have the correct wind for deer to bed on adjacent points, and the correct wind for thermal based cruising, and the correct just off wind to hunt the spot. Tops of draws also funnel and confine trails.

I will leave advice for the experts.
I was just wondering if I can hear the story of that huge buck in your avatar? Wow.

If they are feeding in the fields access from the bottom, if they are in the acorns or eating browse access from top. Coming right up the draw has worked well for me when bottom access is a must... Outside of the rut though, I would not do much morning hunting.

I think you would almost have to enter from the top to your stand site. You may be able to enter the bottom of a draw a coupe hollows over, then walk the distance back to your setup.
I think you would get busted coming in from directly underneath where you are setting up for him to be. He most likely would already be in that bed. If not already in his bed, he would probably cut your scent trail as he entered from below his bed?
