Thoughts on scouting this again.

I scouted this a bit last fall. I actually walked it twice. It is a marshy piece on the corner of a major highway(south) and a gravel road(west). The area didn't get much pressure while I hunted there last fall. I never saw another hunter on this particular piece. The terrain starts out as very thick, older pines. As you move east through that you come to an open marsh. I marked a few beds I found on the edge of the pines. The beds were out in the marsh a bit and under pine trees. The marsh is probably only a 100 yards wide. It gives way to a more brushy type marsh as you go east. Further east is a little more marsh and then thick woods. There are clover fields to the north about 1/4 -1/2 mile. That is all private. I shined it last fall a few times and saw one or two nice bucks. A topo of the area shows it to be flat and marshy.

If you were going to pick out places to look for a buck to bed where would you look? I plan to go back and hit this piece in a month.

Thanks for looking at this Dan. This is not a cattail type wet area. There is high grass that transitions to grass and brush. I believe the area you speaking of is the grass and brush. It is very thick.

Here is a topo if that helps. I sort of outlined the area in pink that we are looking at.

I could certainly see there being beds there... I would expect better bedding at the interior transition though.

Thanks for your input. I do appreciate it. I think this spot gets overlooked because of it's location. Don't know if it hold big bucks, but I think it has some potential.
