I took an image of my public hunting area and colored in all the places I have hunted or scouted at one time. The areas that are still sat images I have never been to. The dark red I have traveled a lot the orange semi frequently and yellow seldom. Blue is water and hatched green is private land. The funny thing is looking at the map the yellow seems to be where I have found the hottest sign but is most difficult to get into and out of. I would guess most of the other hunters cover the same area or less. It also shows me some small bubble areas that I have always traveled around. I have created a scouting folder on my computer and now am logging all this info for future reference. Just thought it was kinda cool.

That's a pretty good idea. You may be able to identify spots you always pass up that most everyone probably passes up. Big Papi may be bedding in one of those often overlooked spots.

Good idea. Could probably add a color code for areas you ruled out for reasons such as no deer sign or heavy other hunter pressure as well.

Re: Areas I havent gone map.
got out tonight for a hunt but ended up not liking my set up and decided to scout out one of the areas Dan had recommended to look for buck beds on one of my topos. I found old rubs from a few years ago but could not find anything from this year. I found a nice blow down that really looked like if a buck was there he would be using it. Well right at the root end of the tree I seen something a little funny looking so I walked over and found and active coyote den. Guess that explain why there were no rubs from this year. Do any of you guys find coyotes using the same denning patterns as the bucks bed? It was right on the point where Dan had recommended and it seems like coyotes are pretty wiley with the wind and scent.
