How many trail cams do you have ?

Unread postby dreaming bucks » Sat Aug 14, 2010 8:09 am

Just curious as to how many trail cams you guys (and gals) use ? I personally use 3 on 60acres. I think I'm going to buy a couple more next year. I am hoping my other 3 will still be working, so that would give me 5... I love getting pictures, almost as much as I do actually harvesting a deer. :D

How long have you had the home brewed one Squirrel ? The reason I'm asking, just wondering if the homemade ones hold up longer than the bought store models ?

I run 1 and half  My predator works mint!!! I also have a cuddeback IR that takes horsesh*t pictures at night. I would love to have more, but I also have 2 more $400 cuddebacks that don't work at all  When I can justify the funds I will have at least 1 more predator to help keep up with where the deer are.

None, I do only glassing in the summer and do not go near the woods.........I used to run cameras and found checking them left too much scent and disrupted patterns throughout the summer........I now choose to stay away from the woods and just glass to see what we have on the property. I'd rather have a surprise buck come in on my and kill him, then to get pix of him but never see him again. 8-)

I have a 35mm Non-Typical, a 2007 Moultrie I-40 & a Scout Gard 550. I only use them for spots I don't plan to hunt, but have some potential. If I get a pic of mature buck then I will look into that spot. Sometimes I will use them to pattern does or small bucks for kids to hunt or just to get pics to look at.

I use to have 4 but 2 were stolen.I decided to pull the other 2 .I,m gonna just glass and shine for now.Least I can sleep at night not worrying what will be stolen next.
I do love the camera's though.I am leaning towards the side where there is a fine line between doing more harm than good.

This is the second year. So far so good, but not a real test yet.

I'm with Lungbuster on this one...seems the more a guy messes with the cameras, the more it impacts the hunting, especially getting this close. I ran a couple over mineral for a few weeks, they all look at it and seem to know its there. Now I'll wait and set a couple up on breeding scrapes in Oct.

I have 4 of them. 2 No Flash Cuddebacks and 2 RC60 Reconyx's. The Reconyx camera's have been outstanding!! I'll be getting camera number 5 soon though. I ordered up a Predator IR from Dan on the Beast and hope to have It for bear hunting.
