Taste of fall this weekend

Unread postby Dewey » Sat Jul 27, 2013 5:34 am

Sounds like a great weekend with highs in the 60's to get out and make final preparations before the season.

I'm going to check a few spots for current sign and set up a few cameras to leave out till opening day. Thinking about sitting in my LW in a spot to do some observation and glassing from a distance to confirm a few bedding areas for opening weekend.

It will be interesting to see if this cooler pattern holds here in the midwest, the NWS is predicting cooler than normal for the next month.

Satellites are showing Surface temps are plummeting on Lake Huron, even inner Saginaw Bay... amazing.

Sounds great. I too plan on sitting a couple evenings in the LW to test-er out and check on a couple of my suspect bedding areas. I'm going up north to put out bear bait tomorrow too and checking 3 cams!

I will be using thi time to finalize my yearly wood pile. Would rather observe and hang cams in the heat than cut and split wood in it.

Got really antsy today and did a walkabout around my favorite public area bedding area. Just inside the public ground on the perimeter to see if deer are crossing in the night across the sandy areas. Found that there were no deer there yet and I suspect they don't move into the area until fall.

Setup my one camera the other day. Very excited to see pics before heading to school in another week. Then its game come August 15th.

I had 49 degrees this morning. That is cool for July.

This cool weather has my gears spinnin....BAD.

All I can think of, are the things I dont have ready yet. Anyone else out there like that?

I have multiple permanent stands that I need to reset. I have a new muzzy that I need to mount a scope and sight in. I really need to start shooting my bow a few times a week.

All that.....and work everyday....and trying to get this house ready to move into. And all the bills keep coming in. Feeling fustrated.

Have church camp and then family camping trip mid August.

I feel so unprepared for our Oct. 1st opener this year.

This cold weather has my gears spinning too, getting antsy. This past offseason (Jan-April) I was out in to woods more than ever before, so I've been going stir-crazy for the past month or two waiting for the season to get here. I did start shooting a bunch last month and uncovered some peep-twist, so a new string is in my near future. I could go through all of my clothes/gear etc... for a THIRD time but that just seems silly. I have a bunch of new areas cyber scouted (some of which I've boot scouted) and I'm ready for September.

Scouted yesterday and went to a 3D shoot today. This weather is awesome and really has me craving some time on stand. Better enjoy it while we can because I'm sure the hot and muggy stuff won't be too far away.
