Ticks?
Over the past few years I have had several friends end up with Lymes. With the weather warming the thought of scouting and ticks crossed my mind. Anyone have any tips they use to keep ticks off and avoid getting Lymes? Do you guys consider this when scouting? I personally think this is a huge problem that the DNR has spent very little time and effort on.

Do you ever worry about the amount of "extra" scent the repellant brings into the area?

Re: Ticks?
Are we talking now? This is tick season.
I do sometimes use repellant when deer hunting early season though when the skeeters are bad. I don't hunt up wind of deer, and they seem to be more afraid of human scent than foreign odors.

Yes, I was talking even now. I know that this isn't deer season, but I am still fearful of really spooking a deer out of the area. Unjustified fear?

I use a home brew of permethrin.............works great!
If you buy a spray for ticks, make sure it has permethrin, not deet..........works much better

Don't know if I am familiar with that. What products contain that vs. Deet?

X2 Do not get it on your skin. Spray it on your clothes and let dry, then you can wear them. Go several washings before respraying. Permethrin is an insecticide that kills by destroying the nervous system.

Re: Ticks?
Do not go out in tick season with out protection. It takes way less time to treat your cloths than it does fighting lymes disease.

Re: Ticks?
For those using Permethrin, do you just spray it on your pants or on your tops as well?
