My silly 5 yr old gave me a scare today

Unread postby Milk Weed Seed » Fri Feb 15, 2013 4:42 pm

Went to follow tracks in the snow this afternoon with my son today. We were following a trail where we came a spot where there was some standing water where the snow had melted. I walked around what apeared to be a 2' x 2' puddle 3" deep. My son jumped in it and sank up to his waste luckily he himself from going deeper. Gave me a good scare and quickly ended our outing. Lots of old mine holes from way back in these woods. Could have been a lot worse......

Glad your son is ok.

Glad he is OK. Fortunately it's just another learning experience.

Thanks guys. Hoping to take him again on Sunday. Maybe I should strap a life jacket and a parachute to him? He looks just like Dennis the menus;-) Tomorrow is the last day of Winer bow in NJ....

Guess he's tough... About a mile hike back to the truck and he didn't complain once. Might of been shocked he fell in though..... His Sorrels are still soaked. Mom was just thrilled with me:-)

Wow, now I am rethinking taking my 4 yr old out with me later today scouting/shed hunting on a small property. Glad to hear your little one was OK. With 5 degrees the past 2 nights I'm hoping the little marsh is frozen solid, but I think the little guy will be staying home to play with his Legos now.

So far been out about 10 hours and have yet to locate any sheds. Even worse, have not located a single bed. Kinda of difficult where I hunt as the deer winter somewhere else every year so there are no "fresh" tracks to follow. I have searched areas that I thought were bedding areas with no luck. Will probably recheck those when the snow is completely gone to see if I missed anything.
