Buck Crossing?

Unread postby Edcyclopedia » Sun Oct 21, 2012 12:46 am

I've had a few people over the years tell me they have seen deer, including good bucks, cross into this chunk of property.
They cross in both directions (N&S), but this block of woods seems harder to hunt which helps with hunting pressure...

With cruising and rut starting to get closer it could be a good option for me.
#1) What would your stand location(s) be for a rut stand?
#2) What would be good bedding locations with said wind directions?

Thanks for your time in advance!

Larger view to show roads and the flow of the property.
If anything else pops out I can get a closer detail if need be?

Close up of greater detail.

Thanks Dan your a Peach as usual!

I can pretty much hunt anywhere, as NH has the luxury of 300ft away from dwellings/buildings
along with
if it is not posted you can hunt it.

The NW hill caught my eye even though I did not circle it.
This piece of property has thrown me for a loop and guessed completely wrong on EVERYTHING!

If you have the time could you explain your method in detail, I'm stumped...?
Thanks again.

Ed I like the spots Dan picked, I marked some also. Some are redundant of Dans' but that is a good thing. The approach bothers me a little, prevailing winds are usually W, NW and that would have your scent preceding you to where you are hunting. I never like to have my scent get to where I'm hunting before I get there. There are some slight elevation differences but fairly flat. If I were hunting that area I would try and find a way to get to them from a leeward direction. Dans routes are great once seated though. Just some things to think about. Good luck.

You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Good points Stanley - thanks!!!

Our prevailing wind tends to be SW.
I picked one of Dan's spots and two of yours, maybe I'll be a combined mixture of your two :D
