Good buck on a trail cam

Unread postby woody-san » Sun Aug 26, 2012 5:01 pm

I picked up some good pics of a public buck on a trail cam I set up on a heavy creek crossing about 80 yards from a corn field. I'm thinking he's going 125"-130", 3.5 years old.

So this pic is at 8:01am...I'm thinking that all this is telling me is that there is a decent buck in the area, not so much about whether he beds close or far away. There are some other crossings that can be used, I chose this one because there were many big tracks near by. I'm not really trying to hunt where my camera is, but for early season, wouldn't this guy be killable not far from the corn field? I'm thinking he may not be spooked into being nocturnal during the first week. Of course I would like to find his bed, but if he's going to show up in this area in daylight, it's worth an early season hunt near the camera site, right?

That is a nice buck.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Dewey, I have to thank you for all the posts you have regarding Covert cams, they were the deciding factor in my purchase. This is the first trail cam I've ever bought/used and the first time I had it out. So far so good!

I'm a fan of them as well! Kind of makes the other tines look short!
