Two Shooter bucks on camera

Unread postby BigHills BuckHunter » Fri Jul 06, 2012 6:30 am

Got my first two targets of the year to kill this fall. Set the camera on the edge of an alfala field where I saw them come out in the evening 2 nights before. Wanted a closer look at them to be sure. They only come out in this spot in the evening when there is a NW wind.

Couple of good ones for sure.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Its nice to see you taking note of the wind direction... I would be studying a topo to find a nearby bed that is only used on a N.W. wind 8-)

I already have the beds narrowed down of where they are coming out at but it still leaves me with two different treestands to hunt. Not sure which beds they are using for sure on this NW wind. I was thinking of putting the camera closer to the bedding area but I dont want to leave scent close to the bed. Having the camera out on the field edge works as a good broad census to see whats out there this year.

Im not sure how to figure out what bed exactly they are bedding unless I got in deeper closer to the bed and in the past when I would do this it would send them to the neighbors it seemed.

Nice!! I would leave my camera where it is. You know there are shooter bucks in your area. You have it narrowed down to a couple beds. Be smart and wait for the right conditions and whack one! Don't push it! Good luck!

Thanks PLB. I left the camera right where its at. I actually saw these two and another big one come out in a different spot last night coming off of an island of trees in the field. You can see the island in the last pic I posted strait out. Now I need to check what the wind was last night.
