loading data onto GPS

Unread postby 186buck » Thu Mar 22, 2012 5:30 am

I have a garmin oregon 450 and have been able to load topo maps onto it. Does anyone know of a web site that will give you the corners of the property that you want to scout. I've done it thru a dnr site but it doesn't seem to always be very accurate.

you can look up the corners in google earth or recon for the public land, mark it, save as kml(if in google earth) and run through a gpx conversion file then drop it into the gps. coming out of cabelas recon is already gpx, drop it on the gps. load the points.

some places you can buy public land maps for them

I cant remember what the exact view is but theres a layer you can turn on to see it. You can see it in regular google maps online too. Map view, when in that, anything Green is usually public land.
