scouting workshop *** 2012 ***old thread
SCOUTING WORKSHOP
We will start out at my house, then head to a private farm and look at how bucks bed on this farm, discuss why they bed where they do, how I access the property in relation to the beds, exactly where and how I set up. Then we will go to a public marsh and look at where and how bucks bed there, we will look at some of my actual set ups, the buck beds, and discuss in detail everything pertinent. We will look at primary beds in both locations. We will look at island bedding, point bedding, fingers, etc.
I can also get my stand set up out, and show how I set up my stand, use my camera arm for self filming, etc. If anybody wants to see that.
This would be covering farm bucks and marsh bucks but will lightly touch on Hill country as well. If I can find a suitable Hill country farm we may do an entire Hill country workshop later on. However, you will see how elevation of small hills on a relatively flat farm effect bedding just like on big hills.
At the end I would reserve some time to look over peoples personal maps and give advice one on one... I don't want anyone leaving with an unanswered question. It will cost $100 per person.
We will have some sort of meal when we get back to my house.
PLEASE STATE WHICH DATES WORK FOR YOU... 4/14 OR 4/28 OR BOTH...

4/14 definitely does not work for me, and I MIGHT be able to make the 28th work, but I doubt that either

I'm not sure Dan on either dates yet. I'll have to do some talking with my drivers and see If I can get one of those weekends off.

There is no ice anymore, and chances are good you might get a soaker... So, for those coming a change of socks, pants, and shoes, is a good idea for when we get out of the woods.

Count me in for the 14th. Can't wait! Hopefully water level will fall a bit. Pretty deep out.

I am so jealous
Mapquest says that it is 12 hours and 750 miles from my house to the Wisconsin border. One of these years I will venture out that way!

Too bad it is a 12 hour drive one way, I would love to attend one of these. I don't think there is any way I could talk the old lady into this with three kids at home all under the age of four.
