Took a walk through a swamp today

I had a pretty good idea going into this today of the general area for a couple stands. I was more interested in seeing if there were any deer alive after all the wolves I saw last year. Mercifully, there was some recent deer tracks in the remaining snow. I found some great access points to the areas I will hang stands this fall. As thick as it is I still shouldn't have to do any trimming. It was nice to see the pipeline came through and cleared one of the lines. That will make it possible for the first time ever for me to do some summertime scouting with some long range optics in the middle of this big pine swamp. I'm going to set up a mineral block tomorrow. Found as many rubs today as I saw all fall last season. I would like to get excited for this fall but the wolves have still taken most of the hope I have for a good 2012. This will be one of MANY spots I'll have ready that will be scattered over a large area for this fall. Rule number one is to be where the wolves aren't, at that particular time. The only way to do that successfully is to have a lot of back up spots. Just used my phone for pics today, actually did the whole post via my phone. There's been some giants in here in the last 5 years.

Looks like a great spot! That cut line will be a great spot to catch some big ones crossing
