Scouting Seminar ( 3-3-11) review

Unread postby Swampthing » Mon Mar 05, 2012 1:06 pm

I left Dilworth,MN on friday 2 nd making my way to Dan's place for our Saturday Scouting Seminar. Unfortunatley the weather starting taking a turn for the worst . And with only about 1 1/2 hours left in the trip ,we were too far to turn back , so figured we would just get safely to our motel and head home saturday.
I got in touch with Dan to let him know we were in town and hopefully get my name on the list for the next Seminar. And to my surprise , he says " If your here than wer're going scouting in the morning. " I was'nt argueing with that . I woulda went with even if there had been a foot of snow. I was really impressed with that ! That just shows what a class act Dan is. I truely beleive if it had been any other man in his place , I woulda been told it's storming out and we got a ton of snow sorry but we'll try again next time.
So Dan says be at the house at 9:00 a.m. and we'll make it work. So it ended up being me , Andy, and Dan. We were given access to some hunting locations . And Dan , laid it all out for us , timing hunts, stand access, set-up , wind direction, thermals, food sources, etc.. Any and all questions were answered . There are no pauses when a deer hunting question is asked of Dan. That just shows his knowledge of the beasts wer're after. He has a very systematic , methodical , precise way of hunting . The words random , mabey , kind of , possibly, are not in his vocabulary.
You can read about something and think you get it. Mabey watch it on T.V. and think you grasp it all. But when you see it up close, and take it all in . It is eye-opening.
Thanks again Dan for making my trip more than i ever could have hoped for.

I wish I could add something to this post, but it has all been said. Dan is a great guy and a great friend, pretty much sums it up right there.

Yep, Dan makes the Beast site work like no other.

Great review. I'm looking forward to attending the next one. Hopefully the weekends work out for me. I have a friend in Sullivan so it should turn into a legendary day.
