Just got back from shining......

Unread postby Dewey » Sun Jan 29, 2012 4:08 pm

The deer are really hitting any standing corn right now. Probably saw about 50 deer in various spots and they were always in groups of at least 10. Nothing with horns that I could see but I am going to follow trails back to bedding tommorow to investigate some more.

Good to see a bunch of deer for a change.

Also saw a bunch of Great Horned Owls flying around tonight! Is it mating season or something right now? :?

Just Googled and yes it is mating season for GH Owls from late January to early February. Looks like it's right on schedule! :)

Sweet! Finding them now and then following the tracks back is a great idea!

That's awesome about the owls too!

Standing corn is like a magnet late season like this. That is for sure. Interesting information on the owls.

I haven't seen crap for deer around my public lands. Did jump a couple bucks the other day scouting, both 1 1/2 yr old bucks with their headgear still in tact.

Cool pics. That's either a northern saw wheat owl or screech owl I think?

No clue, we had a wreath on the door. Im not sure if he thought flapping ribbon was a bug, or was trying to fly in the dark hole. He whacked the door, was ok pretty fast.
