You did ask why...
A new topic with a pole might be warranted?

true, true
Another morning reason is - its cooler keeping the mosquito away.

I wasn't sure if anyone would say they try and spot deer on their feet early or catch them coming off the fields....I usually start around 9 am and go until dark, be it now or later in spring. Generally because I bite off more than I can chew when I go back into the swamp!
Shining afterward is a great tip with gas prices and my big rig. thanks SwampT

I get out when I can, but typically it's before noon.

I go at all times but I like during the week in the morning to midday. Seems like there is less people watching you park your truck and watch where you walk in. Another reason I don't like snow.

I agree with biting off more than you can chew. If I only have time to go for a few hours it usually turns into much longer because I always want to see what is over the next hill or I am thinking what if I just walk a little deeper into the swamp I might find the greatest honey hole ever, and it always ends up just looking like the rest of the swamp I just walked through.

The younger hunters may not understand the worthy of note on going #2 before hitting the field. I do.

I completely understand. I was unprepared for the call on Saturday and had to improvise.

yeah I've had to work at this on a few public areas I've scouted. I have an area I'm probably gonna go to tomorrow that is just endless beds and little hump islands. Hopefully there will be some good tracks to follow. I usually end up way out in the middle buckbedville, USA looking for the big buck bed, and I end up way off the transition where all the doable hunting trees are

The time of day I scout totally depends on the time of year. In the spring/summer I prefer evenings. All my scouting is done by glassing. I start watching deer in the evenings in april. I can usually identify the deer that early and see what deer are going to be good or worth going after. I don't go out and check for sign, walk around, or do pretty much of anything during this time. I watch the deer feed in the evenings more as an inventory check to see who is where.

In the fall and winter, I still scout the evenings and look for any activity - not just glassing feeding areas. I try to see where deer are travelling to and from this time of year to try to make a plan to hunt. In the summer, I'm just observing, not really making a plan. I also walk quite a bit, preferably between 11 and 12:30 p.m. That's when I see the least amount of activity, and also when my game cameras show the least amount of activity.

Whole day after a good breakfast! Usually traveling a few hours to spots so no time is wasted!
