Good ambush spot.
Found this spot today, rub in a creekbed with very steep banks.
Lotsa stuff comes together here, and its between two very thick bedding areas.
Rub at x and the trails are marked.
Three come to one.
Worth a sit, I think.

I like the looks of it. If you don't want to sit the spot I surely will.

Great find Zap. Just curious, where does the trail lead to? A food source?

The single trail goes into a cedar thicket, maybe two acres in size. The thicket is very difficult to walk thru...
The three trails in go to/from food.

Sounds like the ultimate natural funnel. Good luck with the spot this coming season.

Looks like an awesome spot, but also looks like it has the potential to be a swirly wind spot.

Looks like a good one. i'd try to hunt that on the high side where you can shoot at all three.

Re: Good ambush spot.
There are suitable bedding areas very close, but I have not located any exact buck beds.
When the three trails go to one...that trail goes thru a definate doe bedding area (300 yard x 200 yard cedar thicket).
Its an obvious place a buck would seek hot doe, but it is also the shortest route back to a large crp field with a ridge that is in between the two areas.(thicket and crp)
The crp has a few small cedar thickets in it.....
Nearest crop fields are 1/2 mile north, I am not sure of the rotation on those fields, but will be in the next months. These are two small fields.
Any other fields are 1/2 mile farther.
This is a public area that gets less pressure, especially earlier in the season.
And that particular spot is in a little ways....so even less pressure.
There is a good water source right there, at the rub, for an early season hunt.
So all in all a good spot, futher scouting will help select a good timeframe to post on that spot.
I need to look at the edges of the thickets in the crp for bedding.

Swirling winds need to be investigated as rut said otherwise you're wasting your time.

I appreciate the input.
I believe that a n/e wind would blow my scent right down the creek from the tree that I have in mind.

Re: Good ambush spot.
Took another look around that area.
Due south of the first spot that I posted pics of..........there is an old logging road, this is 150 yards away just outside of the cedar thicket and the cedar thicket is on the right as you look at the pic.
The ridge runs up to a large CRP field.
Walked this spot and pretty much straight south of the first spot there is a clump of rubs.
Again this is 150 yards away from the first spot.
These rubs are about five yards up the ridge from the logging road....
Multiple trails cross here, they come out of the thicket and from around it, also two trails halfway up the ridge running along it.
No hunter sign at all here.
Found a scent wick laying on the ground about a hundred yards away on the CRP edge, looked around and there is a stand there. Not locked up and bow holder in place.
From this I come up with....that hunter does not see anyone else here.
One more trip and I will map this stuff out, look at it and come up with some type of plan to get a few hunts out of this place.
The old logging road looks real good to me.....especially where all the trails come together within a twenty yard area.
Both these spots(first series of pics and second) are 3/4 of a mile from parking spots.
You can enter from north or south.
