Public land rubs.

Unread postby Zap » Mon Jan 16, 2012 7:31 am

Walked a section of public today.
Took the public/private border to a point that dumps down to the lake.

There are some crop fields on the private above the point, and the public is mostly wooded with a few crp fields.

That point is about three hundred yards long.
Found some good rubs on that point but no scrapes....

The best find was what I did not find............................no hunter sign.

I plan to give that spot and the surrounding area a few more looks as time allows and come up with some kind of plan for the coming archery season.

You found some good ones Marty.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Yep, those are beauties. So was this a rub line or clumped together? Do you think there's a bed close by?

There was a few at the top of the point, the rest were within fifty yards of one another maybe 1/3 of the way up.

Very hard to see beds, its been dry and turkeys and deer have been pawing around for acorns.
Even the well used trails do not really stand out.
Plan to go back and look over the rest of the area in the future and look better for bedding in early spring.
