So I went out today to check camera's, and I was pretty surprised to see the whole deer there yet...... I thought well, maybe the coyotes got my scent and are a little shy about going back in there for supper...... I think I was right. After going through the pics, I have a coyote a couple nights in a row, that would stay back about 10 feet from it, but not commit, just like he new something wasn't right....
The part I was really surprised about , was the pics I got of this buck...... It's almost like he lost his buddy and wants him to wake up. I will post a few pics of him, but I literally have like 50 or 60 pictures of this buck between 2 or 3 nights, he just kept coming back to sniff him or whatever he is doing..... Do you think they look out for each other like humans do ? I don't know, very weird !!!
Here is the way it looks in daylight, I didn't get any pics of deer or coyotes during light though.
and here is his long lost buddy !
and what the heck is this, is he calling for him to wake up ?
extreme close up, checking my camera out.....

Cool pics.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

I always thought only elephants actually mourn their dead? This deer isn't following the rules is he?
Thanks for the post. Mabey he's screaming, very, very, odd.

I've never seen a buck look like that. It's crazy.
A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.

I had a similar experience. I shot a buck and field dressed in in a CPR field and for a few weeks deer would come from all over and stair at and paw at the guts.

Cool pics!
I wonder if he's actually trying to eat the carcass?
I've heard stories of deer eating fish carcasses that lay on the riverbank. There was also that youtube video of a deer eating a wounded bird. We all know that deer are opportunists and a dead animal in front of them would be an opportunity for a good meal. It may not happen very often, but I think its possible.

Great pictures, who would of thought?? Don't let the antis get hold of this... we'll all be getting sued for mental damages to the deer population
