Covered ground today 1/7/12 Scouting Trip

Unread postby Czabs » Sun Jan 08, 2012 9:50 am

Went out for another 6 hrs today. I covered a lot of miles today, my legs are sore. A lot of smaller chunks and some areas I always wanted to check out but never have in the past. Well I didn't find much, but that helps me narrow it down! I found one nice bed about 80 yards off the rd. Based on the rubs, he looks like 2.5 yr old last year. Hopefully he survived the gun season. 1 big buck bed, bunch of beds (does, little bucks).

coyote I found, good for him ;)

nice ladder stand on the public, looks like he's got some good cover up there

had his decoys laying around his stand, and some other junk...

Looks like you had an interesting day.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Even when you don't find what your looking for at least your weeding out the bad spots.

That is exactly what I was thinking. It's frustrating at first but when you look at the big picture, it definitely helps.

 that's a lot of hair. The most I've found in beds is just a guess 20 hairs max.

If you scout beds just before green up they will be loaded with hair. Deer will shed there winter coat and put on there new summer coat. Little early for that now though.

That's why that time of year is my favorite for scouting. Mid march they were full of hair when I scouted last year.
