Re: Scouting Journal for the Jack Pine Buck
Well I made the hour and a half hike back to the point I found the sign on this winter. The wind was gusting to 20mph out of the south which made sneaking in to the spot a lot easier than I anticipated. On the way in I came across an old plastic sled someone must had stashed a few years ago. A bear had found it and made a chew toy out of it. A little bit later I came across quite a few piles of fresh bear scat......can you guess how this story is going to end? At 6:30pm a 150-200lbs bear came sneaking out of the thicket on the point. I watched him under my tree for almost 15min. The daylight left with the bear as he waddled out of sight. Not the trophy I was looking for, but a pretty cool night.
Ed,
I'm in central PA, but I hunt all over the state.

I would pass a couple deer hunts to have the oppurtunity to see a bear on stand.
