For ACME mapper user's

Unread postby DEERSLAYER » Sat Nov 19, 2011 10:15 am

I have mention this a few times before, but thought I should make a post on this because I see people taking extra time to block out coordinates. If you just click on the little rotating globe in the green box at the bottom right, the box with the coordinates, will be hidden.

You start with this.

Then you simply click on the globe and you instantly get this. Quick and easy. I hope this helps some of you.

If using google earth, click "View" at the top of your screen, then "Status bar".

Here is something else you can do.

Get your free geopdf topo map from here.
http://store.usgs.gov/b2c_usgs/usgs/map ... OOT%29/.do
Follow the instructions on the right.
Find your location on the map.
Select Mark points - a green spot will appear next to mark points.
Put mouse pointer on location on the map, click once.
A red tag will appear on the map.
Place the map over the tag and a maps list will appear.
You can do multiple downloads at a time.

If you get the digital map "Beta", it contains an aerial.
No Beta means it is a topo map.

Then download and install the geopdf toolbar free from
http://www.terragotech.com/products/terrago-toolbar

Once you install the toolbar, than open the geopdf file. The lat long will appear on the bottom.
I have found the lat longs to be more accurate using these maps than acme mapper when adding the map to my gps.

enjoy.
