1. Do you have a separate pack or backpack that you use specifically for scouting?
2. What essential items are always in the pack, and what are only packed seasonally?
3. Am I overthinking this?
I normally only take a pack when I’m planning to hang cameras, which also means I’m hauling a couple of climbing sticks. I don’t normally take water or food, but maybe I should if I want to be out there longer. I normally don’t take binoculars unless I’m planning to look for acorns in trees.

Re: Scouting pack
I use a waist pack.
I carry bug spray, a bottle of water, knife, some 550 cord, phone charger, scent checker, maybe a sandwich (Lord knows I can go a day or three without food) a magazine, as I usually have a sidearm, and a compass.

Re: Scouting pack
I originally bought a smaller pack for scouting, thinking I'd use the larger pack I have for hunting, but started wearting the bigger pack while scouting figuring the additional weight would help me get in better shape for when it comes to humping it, along with a stand and such, while hunting. Basically scouting like I'd hunt, pack/weight-wise. Now I don't use the smaller pack for anything.
Have considered scouting carrying pack, stand and bow just to get used to it.

Re: Scouting pack
I have 2 small kuiu packs.
Used too only have one of the 500s recently bought another.
One holds all my bow season gear, rangefinder, release, a glow stick , license with a few band aids in it. 2 small flashlights. Milkweed, cottonballs. A small water bottle since heat in thesouth is extreme 80s usually in september. A rain frogg toggs top. A knife , gloves, face mask, bleedstop. In my asat top pocket is my tether for my saddle. Hfas Rope mods are on sticks. A small bug spray tube.
A strap is kept at all times on my predator- beast stand.
The second pack holds a bottle of water- Gatorade 2 scouting cameras, a cooling towel. This is my scouting bag. Knife I always carry. I try too be organized for the most part.
The third bag is bigger badlands tracking bag that has 2 tracking flashlights, game bags, knives, shower curtain liner, gloves pistol, orange flag tape, several packs of glowsticks for tracking in the dark. Bleedstop , band aids if i cut myself during quartering. This pack is only grabbed if I have a deer down.
When I used too only have one pack I had stuff all over my car . Nothing was organized I got tired of searching for stuff. So I developed a pack for each situation.

May try to set up something similar to this. I’ve noticed my trunk gets quite messy sometimes during season.

Nothing beats some tree therapy. Deer sightings or not

Re: Scouting pack
I carry the same pack I use for hunting. If I'm getting in shape to hunt, I add weight to it. Most of the time I have a camera or two, python locks and a compass. That's about it.
