Trout Regulations Changes

Unread postby LenH » Sun Dec 18, 2011 5:07 am

My contacts at the WDNR tell me to expect no changes in the regulations for 2012 but this time next year there will be significant changes in the over restrictive Wisconsin Small Stream Trout Regulations.

Are trout hard to catch? I have never caught one in a stream, only on a stocked lake In idaho. It looks like it could be fun!

Actually it's pretty easy. Once you learn where they are in the streams just throw in a worm or spinner or fly. It is a blast to fish them and I love frying them up!

Magic, I caught about 40 or 50 trout this summer! Still thanking you for showing me the ropes. Turkeys for trout was a good trade :-)

Cool! I'm glad we got together as well. We still need to get together and do a float trip on one of the bigger streams.

Back on topic. I'm glad they micro manage to a point. Each stream is different and I'm scared that " one reg fits all" might hurt the fishing. There are some streams that could use to have more trout taken out though. The people down there are friendly and almost always grant access (please ask first, you will make friends and keep the doors open for future fishermen). Don't feel bad about taking a limit home. I feel the trout fishing in Len's area is one of the DNR's sucess stories. Thanks to Len and others who work hard to maintain great fishing!
