A good bow hunter scouts during closed season.
The guy that gets that big turkey every year scouts a LOT!!!

Len, I am pretty new to fly fishing our small Midwest streams (2 seasons worth) Can you talk a little about how you go about scouting? Specifically I am wondering how you predict or avoid big washouts. Te last few seasons here it seems like the small creeks and streams in SE MN receive a lot of washing out before the season opens in the spring which changes a lot of structure and pools.

we get the same wash out here.
comes with the time of the year.
many times i sit at home and curse
the weather.
