Re: Pop up camper hunting
Took 38min to set up with my 8yr old. We had a heck of a time, till I figured out the trick. We didn't have the perimeter staked down, so we struggled to try to hold up the poles. I finally figured that little trick out and it went up easy. Id say next time its a 15min set up probably. Very easy, could even do it in the dark. All the poles are the same, except for 4 poles for the center vertical poles. The bottom 2 on each side are adjustable via a pin. Inside there is plenty of room. I have one of those XL cots from cabelas and it fits on one end with about 1.5ft to the wall. With one of those on each end, there is still about 6-7ft of open area in the center. Think I might have to get a small table and put along the back wall to set stuff on. Might take 10min of the buddy heater to knock the chill out of the air on this tent, but the added space will be worth it. Oh I'm 6'2" and plenty of head room up the center. Above the bunks they say its 5ft, but I can sit up on my cot no problem and that cot is tall enough my feet almost dangle.

Re: Pop up camper hunting
Spent the first week of September living in a tent. Temps were upper 40's/50's at night and I sweated in the sleeping bag. Not sure I would head north with the rig but @ 38 mpg and 1,200 miles from home, it worked.

Good for you, bet it was not too bad.

Once it gets down around 40* using a heater results in condensation covering the canvas on each end. It forms water droplets everywhere waiting to rain down with any sudden movement or if you bump into it.
I'm guessing your burning LP? Try a vented heating system as this will cut down on the amount of moisture returned to the air inside the camper.
Wood heat would more than likely eliminate this problem 100%.

I was using an LP heater (Black Cat?) similar to a Mr. Buddy heater because I found out that the camper heater wouldn't work with out 110V. Are you saying if I used the camper furnace I would have little or no problem with condensation?
You cannot invade mainland America. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.

Re: Pop up camper hunting
Kids and I slept in the canvas tent last night. I felt a chill around my shoulders at one point, but wasn't using my mummy bag either. They had a blast, but I will say we had condensation on the roof like what your talking about DS. It wasn't enough to "rain", but if you touched it, your hand would get wet. We didn't have any heater, so I'm guessing your problem wasn't the heater, or as Backwoods said, maybe your type of heater made it worse? What about kerosene heaters? I don't see myself lugging around a 100lb firebox and gathering wood for heat. I'm not around camp long enough for a wood burner.

Big Buddy for me.
I use the hose with adapter to connect to a 30 lb propane tank.......lots less expensive than the one pound bottles.

Id look for an enclosed motorcycle trailer and turn that into shop. Make it so you can take the stuff out and use it for other stuff.
