For number of 130 inch and up shooters seen it would of been 2006. I just started a new job and only got to hunt 2 days in November. I seen 2 on one day and had five shooters come past me on another day without even getting to get a shot off. Since the year 2000 it was the only year I didn't harvest a 130 inch or better deer on public.

Not sure what year it was but it was in the late ninetys It was the last year I got to hunt with my dad because of my parents getting divorced and other family issues. I didnt even shoot a deer that year it was just a fun time with my dad. He quit hunting But im tryin to get him a crossbow and get him into the woods again.

This yr will be my best season. I did more scouting/off season homework than any season before. I boxed up all my scents/noisy gadgets/gimmicks and stuffed them in the back of the closet. I killed my first turkey run and gun style in spring and filmed it all on my own. I am going to build off that and take it with me into this fall to make 2011 my best hunting season.

Thought I would bump this thread back to the top.

2010 was still one of my best seasons even though I never released an arrow.

Anybody else have a best season they want to share?

2010 for me.

Monday, Nov. 8th in the PM harvested a 9 pointer in a hollow 'cause the temps had reached upper 70's that was my personal best. Just like me, it was much cooler down in the hollows so the deer were hanging out there also.

Wednesday, Nov. 10th in the late AM harvested a 14 pointer (10 point main frame with 4 stickers) that improved my personal best just 1.5 days after the 9 pointer. This buck was taken trying to exit the banks of a river in the middle of the day that was also near 80 degrees.

Same arrow and BH on both bucks!!! If I time someday to follow the instructions on how to post a pic I will do so. Also, forgot to add that my hunting partner killed a 13 pointer on the same public land on Sat, Nov 6th!!

Out of a little over 100 hunters in the campground only one other deer was killed while we were there. Luck and a little skill goes a long way.

2010 was my best season so far. Although I didn't bag one of my target bucks it still was a successful season. I had 2 target bucks within range with the bow, but good shot selection was not to be had. One was a 160 class 10 pt. the other was a wide 145 class 8 point. Also in 2010 I had the most pictures of quality bucks I ever had.

That's a tough question for me. Ya, some seasons have special memories and big bucks down but some seasons with no deer have special memories as well. Hunting in the big woods setting can be tough but it makes the successes much sweeter as well.
One of my fondest memories was the night I had 3 big ones by me. I never got a shot. I passed a shot at a very old brute with mass and stickers at 35 yds hoping for a better shot but I got winded. A night like that made my whole season even though I didn't tag out.
Last season was special because I tracked a good one down in Wi and hunted the UP for the first time.

It is tough to pass up shots but it is better than having a wounded animal. It was tough for me to pass the shots on the deer in my post, but It was the right thing to do, just didn't have good clear shot opportunities.

Well, this might sound cocky, but it isn't meant to be, just the truth.

Last time I hunted public was 1986 gun season, shot a 1.5 yr old buck. Since then, I've been able to gain permission for private ground, as well as buying my own property. I still have success at gaining permission on private and that pretty much makes me forego public.

2011 was my best season. I worked hard at scouting in the off season and it payed off with my biggest buck ever.

2009 is a close second, killed a public land 10 pointer in Wisconsin, then a nice 8 pointer in Iowa.
