As PA statewide season comes to end, I was utterly defeated by the buck I was hunting this year, showing daylight photos on this public land only when I was not there.
I had a thread on here asking about spooking him, he showed up one more time in daylight after that then that was it. About 2 weeks from today I haven’t seen a single sign of him anywhere with cameras scattered throughout the the ridge.
With the rut In full tilt right now, and from hunting pressure, will this buck come back to his normal routine or will he call his new turf home for the remainder of the season ? Our rifle season opens NOV. 30 is was gunna try to set up on him like I have been since day one or is that rookie mistake ?
I can’t say Im normally obsessed with hunting 1 particular deer, but this year is an exception because I was extremely close to him this year and even passed up a buck which I normally don’t do if it’s decent (public land, what do ya do ya know).
When does a buck return after rut/human pressure ?

My experience for what is worth it varies by the deer. You may get pics next week or it may be next year. Somone May also have killed him and you just didn’t hear about it.

Re: When does a buck return after rut/human pressure ?
It depends on the buck. Some return to their core area after the rut, some never leave, some summer in one area rut in a different area and winter somewhere else.
If you don’t see him again this year I would look for him to be in the same area next year around the same time if the pressure food and doe situation doesn’t change before then.
If you think he is still alive and have access to a large enough area you may want to expand your search. Later in the season can be good if you can find food in a low pressure area.
