A lot of extreme failures too...
I had close encounters with a big 10 in bow season that would easily dress over 200# and net 130+, a good buck for Michigan public. Gun season was opening and the orange army would impact his movement in a big way. I made a big move to intercept the buck in his bedding area as he set up to monitor 2 doe bedding areas and intercept their travel.
Unfortunately this was very remote and extremely difficult to get to (a lot younger back then). I made a mistake, I thought he would approach the island transition against the swamp but he held a decades old beaver dam that was unrecognizable and silted in. He was just outside of what I could shoot too.
