When it's December and I take down my tree stand at dark...
I exhale a cloud of freezing mist...
I've got a mile(s) to walk out through big woods, swamps and marshes...
I'm at least 10 miles or more from the nearest human being...
The coyotes howl, the beaver smashes its tail in the moonlit pond...
a whitetail blows at me on the way out...
I have to stop and rest once in a while because of the difficulty of the terrain...
It's important that my neck compasses and gps are functioning...
Because my tail is on the line...

That's big woods... and I wouldn't trade the memories for anything... ever.

Not alot of "that" kind of country left south of the 49th parallel here in NA any more. When we going to see it!! ;)

Exactly what I was thinking. 10 miles or more away from a human rules out a lot of areas. Maybe out West?

Extremely easy to do in Canada. Especially north of the roads ending.

I can probably find a few spots in MN where I can get ten miles away from all humans, however some of them would be in the middle of some massive swamps and I'm not even sure there would be much to hunt out there. Maybe a few other places that are kind of land locked where I could put on that kind of distance but not many.

It certainly isn't as easy to find areas like that as it used to be.

I think it is the most difficult environment there is to hunt as well.

Big enough to make me question if a deer is "good" enough to go through the work of getting them out of there.
