Which vortex diamondbacks?
I’m looking to buy a pair of vortex diamondbacks because of the good value and warranty. I’m not sure which ones to buy however. I hunt in Wisconsin and often times don’t meed to see very far. There are times tho when I would like glass large ag fields and look out over marshes. I’m not very knowledgeable about optics so I am not sure whether to get the 8x42, 10x42, or 10x50. Which binos do you guys use and what situations do you use them in?

I would go 8x42 or 10x42. 10x50's would be better left in the truck or used for summer glassing. The 8x will have a little better low light performance vs the 10x.

10x42 compact model.
I'm reason they call it hunting and not shooting.

I have the 10x42's and they are great for glassing the fields and such. But in the woods I wish I had the 8x42's for the light gathering in the dense woods.

Re: Which vortex diamondbacks?
Another 10x42 diamondback here for everyday use and hunting. Wish I had a pair of 10x50 or 12x50 for evening glassing/shining though.

I like my 8*42s for in the woods on stand. Most of the places I hunt it’s thick so bigger would useless

I’ve got two pair of 10x50’s. One for the truck and one pair I keep in the house.

I’ve got the 8x42 Diamondbacks and wish I had gotten the 10x42. For what you’re describing, I’d go with 10x42.

Re: Which vortex diamondbacks?
8 x 42s for hunting as they are lighter, more compact and will have a very slight edge in low light. For driving roads and glassing I would go with the 10x50s... but then I would go with the best glass I could afford (if you are doing long range observing and lots of it) - Vortex is good glass but Swarovski and Zeiss will outperform them in low light.
