I remember in Dan’s marsh DVD, it was mentioned how bucks would sometimes use a lone tree or other landmark that was easily seen, to make a bed under.
This is a far cry from marsh habitat, but the idea seems the same. I was zooming in on a piece of public and saw an old farm silo amid a bunch of brush with no large trees around it. Looking closer, there appears to be several deer trails going right to it from different directions.
Could they be bedding around it? Sure fits in with using a backdrop to bed in front of.
Only way to find out is in-person scouting which I’m about to do soon...

Interesting. Has a web of trails to it, just like a lone tree in a marsh. Sometimes the lone tree in a marsh will have no bedding around it, but you still almost always see multiple trails intersecting there. Definitely worth checking out.

Did you scout that spot yet? Looks like it's super thick around that silo but looks like it's got potential.

Re: Bedding - visual landmarks
I have not. Muzzleloader season just ended in WV and I didn’t want to interrupt anyone’s hunt. I think i’ll take a look with a stand on my back and set up an observation stand before the bow season runs out.
Also worth nothing, and I didn’t realize this before, that this is at the top of a big hill. But it’s perfectly flat at the top.

Re: Bedding - visual landmarks
I am at work and the pictures are blocked here But, I wanted to comment. Lone tree bedding and using as travel beacons does not just relate to marsh, I see it in CRP and brush terrain a lot... I think its more pronounced in marsh or swamp terrain cause most of the time those terrains are under water and that lone tree is the high ground they can bed at. However, I certainly see it in other terrains as well.

Abandoned homesteads/farms etc. often become deer hotspots. I've read alot of articles about successful hunts in or near them. Applying Beast tactics should just make any hunts thee even better.
Your silo could be a any wind bedding scenario. Especially being that it's right on top of the hill. Good luck scouting. Tell us what you find!!!
