Willow Marsh Bucks
This is a big willow marsh about 600 yards wide. There are trails and beds literally everywhere. There are rubs on all the little trees that are alone in the saw grass. There are scrapes on the transition to Oaks dropping acorns. I saw big tracks but also saw another hunter walking the transition. Should I hunt the edge or go into the marsh? If I go in I have no idea how to hunt it. There are trails everywhere with tunnels leading into super thick willows. There is not a single tree on the interior suitable for my saddle, but there are a few closer to the edge.

Re: Willow Marsh Bucks
I can relate to this. Are there any pockets or openings in the middle of it? Maybe a creek or ditch? Gotta find a transition or something different to be able to hunt the middle of it.
From what I’ve seen they like to lay on the downwind side of the openings so they can smell whatever moves through.
*edit- I just noticed you said marsh. I was envisioning a huge willow thicket. Don’t be afraid to get in there and get dirty. Keep asking yourself if you’re within 100 yards of the buck you want to kill. If you’re not, push in farther. If you bump a few deer it’s not s big deal. Get in there and get aggressive. Hunt on the ground or do whatever you have to to get close to bedding.

Without scouting you might have to jump around a little or setup on one end and observe and see if you can see anything moving around in there. I would certainly push in a little if you can, you could certainly go for broke and just dive in too, nothing wrong with taking risks.

Thanks guys I may push in until I bump a deer to give me an idea of how deep they are. There are irregular grass openings throughout, its like a labyrinth I wouldn't want to get turned around in there after dark.
