Kayak Rigs for treestand and bow?
I'm going on a trip next weekend and the remote spot I want to hunt is across a massive beaver pond. My question is how do you bring your gear with you? I was thinking about doing a mod to a raft and tow my gear but seems a little sketchy. Should I just strap my stand and bow to the kayak in a few garbage bags hoping it doesn't get wet? I seen a few big bucks when I was glassing in august. And the property looks promising for bedding.

That looks awesome. Unfortunately the kayak is a loaner from a buddy. So I can't permanently change it. I'll be in the market next summer for my own and I'd love to do something like this to it.

I've been looking in kayaks just can't decide if I want a kayak or a canoe. I figured a canoe would be much easier to fit all my gear in.

I agree 100% but I drive a Ford Focus so it'll be a chore even for a kayak. I'll eventually get a truck but until then I'm stuck. It's pretty funny seeing a 150-200lb deer strapped to the trunk of a little focus but it does the job and gets 30mpg.

You don't have to be the best, just do your best.

I have been on the fence for years between the two... I have a canoe but i borrow a kayake here and there and i honestly like the canoe the best. It can be a pain if you are trying to go solo and paddle upstream or something. Last week I took a kayak out and tried to get to a few of my best remote spots and failed. There were to many downed trees across the river so i would have had to portage around them. Thinking about doing that with a canoe solo with a stand and gear sounds pretty extreme. Next year I want a kayak and I should be able to get around that stuff with a little smaller boat. I think it depends on the water your looking to navigate around. But bottom line you are more likely to stay dry with a canoe then a kayak IMPO

I fish a ton in the summer so I really want just a good kayak. I'm pretty good with one. I might zip tie a few 2x4s so I have something to strap my stand to and call it a day. I really wanted to see options to see if there is a easier way.

Re: Kayak Rigs for treestand and bow?
I just bought this inflatable kayak and will be using it this year. I also purchased the skeg which helps it track better. I don't think I will like it as much as a canoe or real kayak but I drive a Camry so a canoe is out of the question. There are nicer inflatables out there but I could not afford 300 and after watching videos online I think this one will do. Will update after my first trip and let you know how it goes.

Can you elaborate on this set up a little? I was thinking about doing mods to mine as well.
Does it mess with you stability at all?

U will get wet in kayak. Imo -However kayak is much easier to navigate thru obstacles. I wear chest waders when hunting out of the kayak. You will stay dryer in closed type kayaks then open/fishing type.
