Last Chance to Hunt IL Public

Unread postby ol_ben » Fri Jul 21, 2017 4:50 am

I'm an IL resident, but probably only until early next year. This is my first season bowhunting and most likely my last real chance to hunt IL (I'm cheap enough that I won't likely be back at non-resident prices). If you had only one season left, are there any public pieces you would recommend hitting before I go, or just do the scouting and hit the ones near me (of which there are plenty)? I'm in the Quad Cities area, and will be hunting almost exclusively weekends, and maybe evenings at some of the nearby sites (< 45min), so it will be difficult to venture more than a couple hours south or west, but if some place is worth a blind sit or two just for the chance to see something crazy I'll consider it. I suspect I'm better off focusing on the closer sites where I can get more scouting time, but I'm interested to hear what folks have to say.
