For Indiana guys - anyone know much about Splinter Ridge WMA

Unread postby mheichelbech » Mon Sep 14, 2015 7:47 am

Just heard about this area in Vevay, IN. Vevay and Switzerland county had historically been know as the Iowa of Indiana however I hadn't heard much about it lately...guys were coming from all over, even Ohio to hunt it but I don't know if the good bucks had been thinned out over time or not.

Its straight up and down. I have turkey hunted it many times with lots of success. I rolled down the sides of the hills too! Its a great tract of land, and very high pressured.

I've heard it can be really good in early archery. High pressure come firearm season. There are so many deer in that county. Big ones too. From what I understand it's alot like jackson

Guy I talked to who hunts in Vevay said he counted 200 separate shots opening morning. He said he didn't think the WMA had been highly pressured the last couple years but I had no idea.

Very hilly but not real big so pretty difficult to get away from hunters. I hit it last season and found stands all over. It's a long drive for me so I didn't get a glimpse of mid or late season

In a great county though

Sounds about right on the terrain. I drive through vevay a lot and looks like some really rough hills.

Was planning a trip to that area this November. Hearing some conflicting info on the pressure during bow. Curious myself if anyone has more info.

Call the office. I have gotten some really great info that way on other state lands. If nothing else they can give you an idea how hard it's getting hit
