Deep Cut Dead Doe

Unread postby Troutking » Sat Oct 30, 2010 3:57 pm

It seems like I am always hunting deep cuts between two points. I have utilized this technique so much since watching Hill Country bucks last year. I went in tonight and killed a doe 20 minutes after setting up. It was 3:30 and a bit warm for a dead deer so I opted to get down and drag her out before dark. This was the first time I have ever been to this stand site, I went in blind on public land off of a topo map, picked a tree and let her rip. She walked 15 yards from my stand and died 30 yards from it. I know it is just a doe and not a big buck but it is rewarding none the less when a plan works out. I will be perched in there tomorrow morning as well. The wind is right again in the morning so I will give it one more sit before moving on to other virgin spots. I left my assault and sticks in the tree, hopefully they are there when I get back.

I owe so much to Dan and the other fellas on this forum. Although I haven't met any of you I have learned more from folks here and on the videos then anywhere else ever.

Doesn't need to be a big buck to be successful especially considering you went in blind, public land and first sit. That is awesome, congrats on a great trophy hunt!

Went in this morning to the same tree and added two sticks so I was 6 sticks high. The wind had been a bit willy nilly so I wanted to get a little higher. Had a basket racked buck walk 25 yards down from the stand. Not what I was looking for so he got a free pass. Next time I sit that tree it will be out of my climber. Thanks for the nice comments.
