Unfinished business

Unread postby Dustin » Fri Mar 06, 2015 10:12 am

Every year there's usually that one buck that got away. What buck/bucks keep you up at night as we dream about the 2015 season? Here are 3 of the bucks I look forward to seeing next year...

Great looking bucks. I had a nice 140 inch 8 come through the swamp I was hunting right at dark and was to thick to shoot through. His bedding area is on private property so I can only get so close. I hunted his core area 3 hunts and saw him once. He is my unfinished business hope he made it through.

Thanks! The last buck tank has been within 20 yards in a swamp twice. His set up is almost flawless. The second buck Suey is similar to your situation. His early season bed is up on a knoll that's extremely thick and private. Trying to kill him there I believe is impossible due to that and he doesn't show himself on public till 9pm. Although we know his travel tendencies during rut as seen on the day time picture. Trying to catch him in this saddle or near the doe bedding he came from seems to be best option till we find his other stops in his range.

I had 3 2.5 year old 8 pointers and at least half a dozen yearlings that survived. I had them on cam in January. 3.5 year old in my area are about has good has it gets were I hunt. Looking foward to this fall.

Some studs for sure there Dustin! I have my sights set on a jumbo mega. If he made it through gun and the winter he should be somewhere in the 170-180 range maybe even bigger. I believe he is only using the public I can hunt during certain time periods of the year though. I'm gonna try my hardest to figure him out and film it. I love it. I'm jacked. If I can pick him up and stay on him up until September I feel like I have a good shot.

Ha, hearing how most PA guys talk I thought PA didn't have big bucks like that. Great bucks! That's probably a better lineup than my average year hunting IOWA public

Wow! Most of those are bigger bucks that I get on my cams or I see in person hunting public land in the supposed destination states of IL and WI. Awesome! I hope those boys are still alive for you to chase this Fall.

Joe are you going on a roadtrip?? :D

If we could get PA to swap places with the heathen state of IL I probably would, I would do a 2 hour drive to hunt but not 15 hours :D

I missed a nice one late season with the muzzleloader, I'd guess him in the 130's. Based on where bedding is and where the neighboring hunters were hunting I know he didn't make it near any of them in daylight.......multiple sightings of this buck and each time he was seen it was close to last light and he was not far from bedding. Hoping for a crack at him this season...
