are cottonwoods ok for hang on/sticks?

I picked out a cottonwood tree but wonder about the smooth trunk. Will it work OK? XOP hang on and strap on sticks fyi.

Should be ok I would just be very careful.If you ever feel uncomfortable I would switch trees if you think it's to risky. I'm not sure about xop I've only used lone wolf products so I'm not quite sure how solid xop is on trees.
