This is a new area close to one we already hunt. Didn't do any spring scouting this year and I'm running behind. I'd like to maybe go in blind for a couple sits, but since I have a couple other places I know, I might just scout this some off and on through the season. There is weed field to the southwest and Northeast and the only cropland is a little over a mile to the south. The entire area is 90% mature hardwoods. There is a 4 lane highway to the South just off the map between this ridge and the crop land. I've taken a map and marked what I expect for bedding and funnels. Curious to see what you guys think. I'd like to see how my understanding of deer behavior by terrain measures up. Still a newer concept to me.

Re: New Area scouting
tons of saddles and ambush points. I also see at least one really good hub.

Re: New Area scouting
Yellow are possible ridge running trails, big yellow circles are hubs. I didn't do all of the hubs. there are a couple more to the east. Red circles are possible buck beds, based off Dan's info of bucks bedding on points and top 1/3. Scouting would need to confirm this. Green is possible stand locations, especially in the rut. These should see high travel based off of prevailing wind direction and thermal tunnel. Not sure where main food source is, but that would determine on where to set up early season. Blue dots are stands in saddles. Also be good during rut. Tweaking exact stand location in these will be needed based on wind.
Dan, Ninja, and others. How'd I do?
