Southern ohio public

Unread postby wmihunter » Sat May 10, 2014 3:37 am

Does anyone have leads on good ohio public land? Especially southern ohio? If so, please pm me. I'm looking to do a short 3 day hunt this fall. I don't mind hiking a long ways in or rough terrain. Thanks

There is some really good land down there but you better be in good shape to hunt some of the better spots because that terrain can kick the but of a flatlander like us. I have cyber scouted a lot of area down there. It's rugged but it's good. We can go over some spots in a few weeks when things slow down for me if you want.

I am near Lousiville, KY...I'd be down for travelling there...

I hunt southern Ohio Public and have scouted several pieces. The public down there has gone downhill drastically, but it's still better than what I experience here in Michigan. If you have any questions I'd be happy to help. It's definitely not for the faint of heart. Most guys last 2 or 3 days and then give up because the hunting is quite difficult in the rugged areas and the big bucks are few and far between, but there are still some there.

How do the locals relate to out of state hunters down there? Is it safe to leave your truck with michigan plates in a remote area of ohio?

I have hunted public here in Ohio since the late 90's and I have never seen any instances that should make you worry. I would suggest not going near C-bus with the Michigan plates... Especially in November. Fans can be rabid.
