Land locked access
I know this ahs probably been discussed but couldnt find it searching.
How do you access a piece of public land locked by private? If there is a waterway is it ok to park on the road and walk in the waterway to the public?
Who has experience with this?
Thanks

Re: Land locked access
I think different states will have different laws on this. I'd call a CO or state trooper to get the right answer.

Re: Land locked access
What type of public? State owned, federal, MFL, FCL? Also, what type of road are you parking on? Parking can be complicated too. How big is the waterway?

I believe state owned, just a small road not a highway or anything, small creek.

Re: Land locked access
I know a guy that has private ground that is land locked. He can only access it by the river. He tried to get an easement through another property but the courts wouldn't allow it.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Re: Land locked access
A guy I know entered a public property by using a creek. The land owner had posted the creek. When he got out the sheriff and the land owner were there and they wrote him a ticket for trespassing. He hired a lawyer and took it to court where he won.
The next time he went hunting there when he came out he was met by the sheriff and the land owner and he was promptly written a ticket again. That time his lawyer had it thrown out. I believe he eventually got sick of it and quite hunting there.

Re: Land locked access
I access some land locked stuff by lakes and rivers, its a great way to get away from the pressure. A creek would be a little different depending on the size of the water and layout. Even if legal I might feel a little bad about cutting across some guys land via a small water like that. I've looked at some similar situations and just decided to pass on them, not worth the trouble.

Read in Bugle mag ... guy used a helicopter for a drop hunt out west. Loved to hear the creativity and drive.

Re: Land locked access
This is how I started off with my zodiac. Public land I could only access by water.
People think that there has to be a right of way if it's public. THAT IS NOT THE CASE!
If you find these spots, they can be a gold mine.

A buck will see you three times, and hear you twice, but he's only gonna smell you once.
