This is a subject of interest for me. I HATE hunting from a stand! I have been successful many times bow hunting from the ground, but never on a mature buck. They have always came from stand set ups.

I did buy a ASAT 3d suit this year and it seems to help. It's not quite a ghillie suit, but it does break up your outline.

One thing I have learned is in order to draw you have to read the deers body language. Obviously don't draw if he's looking at you, but also try to wait for a more relaxed body posture. You would be surprised how often on high alert a deer will snap its head around while your drawing and suddenly be looking your way, catch the slightest glimpse of movement and be gone all in the second it takes to come to full draw.

What are the scent control measures you ground hunters take?

I keep all my hunting clothes in totes in the back of my truck and change when I get to my hunting area. I also spray my ghillie suit down with a carbon/silver spray called Carbon Synergy.

X2 if you think your outsmarting a deers nose your fooling yourself. There is no product that will eliminate enough scent to make any difference. They either catch your scent stream, or they don't.

I agree with this. Keep the wind in your favor and you don't need to worry about all these fancy scent elimination gimmicks.
