The past two seasons as well as this season I bow hunt public only. Gun hunting I hunt both. I see better bucks on the public land.

Nothing but public for me for over 25 years now. Only kill I have on private was a bear. All of my deer were taken on public land.

Same here.

Private land doesn't necessarily mean less pressure.

Mostly private but if I know of a good buck on public then it's game on.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

100% public past 10yrs or so. My private prior to that was basically a week or 2 trip up to Ashland area to our cabin to bowhunt. Only gun hunted there once. I dont have a problem with it. I would have to be a gazillionaire to afford the amount of acreage in private land as I do on public.

100% public here, well the ground is owned by a coal mining company, but it is open to the public. I am thinking of sticking more towards state gamelands now though. The area i typically hunt has a lot of atv traffic and other vehicles, The gamelands have a lot more law presence to deter people from baiting, and shooting from vehicles and such, plus with more remote areas, I can see my odds of getting a nice buck increasing.

Now that I have much more woodsmanship skills and sense of direction, I can see this becoming more of a trend for me.
NEXT YEAR I' HOLDING OUT FOR A BIG ONE!!

I'm assuming that buck in your avatar picture is a public buck. Could you share the story of that hunt? That is one heavy buck. 8-)
