I could use some tips for this piece of land---
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
Found this new piece last weekend. I realize it is a bit late, but the area is all new to me. It's big woods. The land is right on the corner of a county highway and a dirt road. It's thick marsh and pines. To the north there are a few houses and some clover, but that is a mile away. Found plenty of beds out in the marsh. Since I don't have any buck beds pinned down, where would you put a stand and "hope" to catch some buck movement?

I don't know it this will be much use. There isn't a whole lot of elevation changes. I think the sat image is more telling, but maybe that's the rookie in me.

Any mast trees (oaks, etc.)? It looks deciduous along the creek bottom...

Where are the boundaries? What time of year are you hunting it?
I see some river/creek bends the could hold beds and create rut funnels. Also seems like enough topography to check high ground for bedding. Transition along marsh seems promising too. That piece seems to have it all.
Good luck.

I may have made it confusing....I drew in the thick red line to designate the approximate boundary. The lower left corner is very thick pines. That transitions out to a high grass marsh. I found several beds out there. It is basically 100 yards wide. That transitions to thick brush and then back to pines and then the river (as you look going left to right). There were very few maples and a couple oaks that were in clumps on the top end of the sat image/topo. It's basically an 80 acre section on the corner of a county road and a dead end dirt road.

The topo and aerial didn't match up to good so went and grabbed these.
Thought I would grab one from Bing while I was at it.
I divided these into thirds to for added detail. Starting from the NW.
You can see some runs going through the grass on the pics.

You cannot invade mainland America. There would be a rifle behind every blade of grass.

The areas circled in red appear to some elevated ground that might be worth checking out. Anyone else agree, or have anything to add?

The area circled in orange also may be another area to seek. Looks likes some gradual elevation coming off that river bottom. I know these out of your boundaries, you might have to get close as you can.
