Goals for Public Land Hunting?
So this will be my 3rd yr of hunting Public Land Exclusively. My goals for each season have changed.
Yr 1 Goals- Find good spots away from the crowd and shoot a doe or two
Yr 2 Goals - Shoot a P & Y and 2 does & Find 2 new spots to hunt and narrow down a specific tree
This year my goal is to self-film myself shooting 2 does and shoot a P&Y (trying to get him on camara) & add two new quality stand locations.
WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR PUBLIC LAND HUNTING THIS SEASON??

Re: Goals for Public Land Hunting?
Just looking to knock down a good buck for my area. In the bigwoods most of the two year olds will never break 100 inches so I want to connect with that all important 3 year old or older age class. Not too worried about size or inches just a good buck that gets me excited when I first see him.

Re: Goals for Public Land Hunting?
Lots of hard work already since the end of last deer season...
I'm going to get an arrow in to a 3 year old or older buck this year on the super pressure public,,, buck's that make it to their third birthday around here are exceptional. They typically score 106" to 120" depending on the growing season and they are one tough customer to get close to.
I also will make a play for an exceptional buck that has exceeded this age by a few years. I located him last deer season and hope he has made it through. Lots to look forward to even in my crazy public neck of the woods.

I want to get close on some 2.5 and 3.5 year old bucks more often. Basically I want to see happen what I expect to happen, the plan coming together. If I kill one even better.

Re: Goals for Public Land Hunting?
My goals are the same every year. Hunt hard, have fun and hopefully learn something along the way. If I kill a good buck that is a bonus and does not define if my season was a success or failure.
I love the challenge of hunting public land and it's the only way I know. Going one on one with public land bucks is what I live for. If it was easy I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much anymore.

Re: Goals for Public Land Hunting?
This is my first year hunting beast style on public, I busted my but all spring and summer and have high hopes, but in reality my goal is just to learn as much as possible to better my scouting in upcoming years.
