northern wi state and fed land

Unread postby hemlock » Sun Jan 13, 2013 12:06 pm

i love hunting the big woods in northern wi.,because if you do your homework it can pay off,i know if you go to other forums theres always guys whinning that there is not enough deer,my thoughts are how many deer do you really need to see,you can be the best of the best ,do your home work but allot of it still comes down being in the right place at the right time.

Over the years I have averaged seeing about 1 deer per day. In the begining - and for many years, I was frustrated by that. I have learned and now I'm hunting only for big ones and the way I hunt makes my average even worse but I don't care because I know I'm doing the right things and persistance will pay off. I guess I don't really buy into the "right place at the right time" idea. Ya, there is always luck involved but hunting the big woods relying on luck might get you a good one once every ten years if that.
