Do you have any spots...
...where you truly believe you are the only one hunting or even setting foot? I was DEEP in a swamp today in SE WI. I never see much other hunter sign far from the lot there, and its thick and nasty, I thought about turning around and leaving a half dozen times. I saw no sign of other hunters until I found an old, sun beaten soda bottle way out in the marsh. Kind of a let down. Looks like it has been there awhile so there is hope no one has been out there in awhile. I am finding in SE WI its hard to find a spot where no others go. I am already making plans to rig up my canoe for getting further into islands and spots where people can't walk. I hope to have better luck.
So do you Beasts have any public spots that are "yours" that see no one else?

not sure where you are exactly, but I am from south east WI too. the public land around here isn't very big. there are many small parcels, so I don't believe there are too many spots I can go without having the possability of running into someone else. I can only hope. I think Kettle Moraine would be the best chance.

I've been a lot of places pretty far off the beaten path and so far I haven't found such a place.

I wish! I live in lower Michigan.

Re: Do you have any spots...
I have a few cattail islands that I have never seen another person or even sign of another person ever being on them. One is accessed by riding mountain bike just under two miles on dike roads and then walking another 1 1/2 miles much of it through deep water and muck. Not many people have enough ambition to do this and not sure to be honest how many more years I will be able to do this myself. Getting too old for that crap!!
These are the spots I usually see my best bucks and since they are so hard to get to I am very selective what I will shoot. I have passed on bucks I would never pass closer to the mainland and does are entirely out of the question. Kinda set myself up for failure most times but I love hunting these secluded spots and always feel like my odds are best for a monster buck.
I go way out of my way to find spots that nobody else hunts and have a pretty long list of them. One of the marshes I hunt is 32,000 acres and if you have the energy getting away from people is very easy. Most are afraid to get wet!!

I sure don't.
You can fool some of the bucks, all of the time, and fool all of the bucks, some of the time, however you certainly can't fool all of the bucks, all of the time.

Can I ask what part of the state this is in? I've been doing a lot of looking around and can't say I can find any spots in my area where its possible to get 3.5miles from a road or parking lot...maybe I need to abandon the smaller spots

SE WI....it's not a straight shot to this spot but accessed by going around large bodies of deeper water and any type of boat or canoe is illegal. One side of it is an area that is closed to all hunting so there is only one way in. If I could use a boat it would be probably half that distance.

Re: Do you have any spots...
I have a couple spots in N. Wis like that but with the wolves now, there aren't many deer either! Still have a spot in N Minn that will qualify and has deer.

Re: Do you have any spots...
There is no place where people don't go, or have not been in the states. But I do know some places where people rarly go. Most of which do not have trees to hunt out of and require long journeys thru water, muck, and cattails.
But even that far out you will find old sign from others.

Re: Do you have any spots...
I could hunt my entire life right next to you and if you never saw me you would think you were the only one hunting there. I'm pretty anal about not letting others know where I hunt. Even when I hunted private land I never left a stand hanging when I wasn't there. On the other hand a lot of hunters are complete pigs and leave garbage and sign all over the place. I would also say you wont find a spot that nobody goes. I have spots nobody goes to during bow season, but come gun season people walk through them.

Re: Do you have any spots...
I have places where seeing people is rare. And I have places where people haven't been in a couple of years.
But nowhere do I have a place where people haven't been, or where a person might show up even though it's rare.

I agree with what others have stated, I've yet to find a place that no one has ever been, always some sign of human presence even if it's very old.
Where we hunt in NWO and BWCA MN, rarely do we see another hunter. Most human presence is from summertime camping, backpacking and fishing. So if the question is....do you have public places that don't recieve hunting pressure. I would say yes, but it takes alot of effort to find those places.
